It warms my heart to know there are such caring and compassionate people in our community.
My daughter Arianna was turning 8 years old and we were unable to throw a party like we usually do, because of Covid-19 restrictions.
Garbage day is every Friday and she can always be seen glued to the window, happily watching the hard-working people collect the garbage and recycling.
Arianna will hear the truck and come running to the window. I was able to contact the Waste Management facility and inquire if a garbage truck could stop by to make my daughters birthday special.
I explained she was autistic and is very fascinated with garbage trucks. John, the manager, was very understanding and said he would be happy to have a truck come by to make my daughter’s day special.
So, today they came… as usual she was at the window in seconds when the truck came up to stop in front of our house, they waved.
I attempted to coax her outside to let her get a closer look to see how the truck works, but she was too nervous to break her routine, of watching from the window.
Arianna did wave back and sign for “more”. So, I knew she was happy the truck had made a special stop. We are hoping that maybe next year, with more preparation she can get a closer look!
Thank you to the good people from the waste management facility for making my daughter happy on her 8th birthday. It made us very happy seeing the joy in her eyes!
